Cut Flower Care
How to Care for Cut Flowers
Make flowers last longer
  • With Tulips still in wrap, snip elastic band from their base and gently align top of blooms evenly.
  • Trim 1” off stem ends while Tulips are still in wrap to create a fresh surface to absorb water.
  • Stand wrapped Tulips into a clean vase with fresh water and flower food solution, leaving Tulips in wrap for 4 hours. (If a Tulip hydrates in a limp position it will maintain that position.)
  • Remove wrap from Tulips and remove any foliage below the waterline (to help prevent bacteria from growing).
  • Keep in cool location out of direct sunlight and drafts. Replace water every 3 days.
  • Enjoy the stages of the bloom as Tulips progressively open and stems grow taller.

Lily and Iris: Display and Care

  • Trim 1” off stem ends and place into a clean container with fresh water and flower food solution.
  • Remove any foliage below the waterline (to help prevent bacteria from growing).
  • Split Beargrass into 3 - 5 groupings, placing each into the arrangement.
  • Keep in cool location out of direct sunlight and drafts. Replace water every 3 days.
  • Pick stamens off as Lilies open. This will prevent staining. The sooner removed, the less pollen will get on your fingers. When pollen dust gets on flower petals, clothing or fabric: lightly brush off with tissue (or soft brush). Water activates pollen's stain-power, so avoid rubbing or washing. Sunlight erases staining.
  • Remove blooms past their prime.
  • Enjoy Lilies as they open progressively during a period of up to 14 days.
