Trinity River Vineyards Wins Silver at the Sunset International Wine Competition
We are pround to announce that our Trinity River Vineyard’s 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon has won a silver medal at the Sunset International Wine Competition held in Menlo Park, CA.
This is the first time a Humboldt County wine has placed in this elite competition. Trinity River Vineyards is the sister winery of Stargazer Barn. Winemaker Wil Franklin creates all our wines, from start to finish and we are thrilled with this recognition.
This year’s competition had 2,900 entries from the United States and around the world, including France and Italy. The judging was conducted by 50 of the most respected wine experts in the West, led by honorary chairs Joel Peterson, founder and winemaker, Ravenswood; and Sara Schneider, Sunset’s Wine Editor.
Trinity River Vineyard’s winemaker, Wil Franklin said,
“I am thrilled, we went head to head with some amazing wines, so honestly it was a very pleasant surprise. This award will bring a lot more attention to the exceptional wines created in Humboldt County.”
The wine was created with grapes grown on the Trinity River, near Willow Creek in what is one of the most unique and remote American Viticultural Areas (AVA) in the United States.
Mr. Franklin continued,
“Humboldt County actually has an amazing climate for growing world class grapes and we have a wonderful group of knowledgeable, passionate winemakers right here in our community.”
Congrats Winemaker Wil!
